New — firmware 5.x: from firmware version 5.x onwards, GliderKeeper communication is multi-protocol Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, so the UTC timings provided by GKSync can also be reached over Bluetooth from the Desktop App and from the Android and iPhone (iOS) apps.

How it works
GKSync is a high accuracy clock, backed up with a tiny button battery. Upon start, GliderTimer will check the clock and update all internal timing to GKSync time, which is synchronised to UTC (Universal Coordinated Time). Any event in your flight can now have a correspondence to UTC.
GliderTimer has as well one UTC unit, so it can check whether your landing time was within the competition working time.
Transparent usage
Just plug your GKSync into the GliderKeeper expansion port. GliderKeeper firmware (version 1.23 or higher) will do the rest. GliderKeeper will operate the same with or without a GKSync as an FAI altimeter and flight duration recorder; if GKSync is present, UTC timing will also be possible.
Use with GliderTimer
Just after the connection between GliderTimer and GliderKeeper, GliderKeeper will notify its timing: if UTC timing is available, in 2 seconds the flight will be scored.
In case your GliderKeeper has no GKSync, both units will interchange their timing for some more seconds to ascertain landing timing. This can only be done if the GliderKeeper was not shut down and its timing is still coherent. If the timing could not be done, GliderTimer will ask a human to confirm landing and launch validity.
